Coral tree (also known as flame tree)

Erythrina x sykesii - Image courtesy of WeedbustersSpecial disposal notes: Sterile hybrid so sets no seed, but all stems root upon contact with ground, forming dense stands. Kill standing where possible, dispose of cut material to landfill, or mulch finely.

How to Control:

  1. Frill and fill: cut a notch every 10 cm around the stem diameter, then fill or saturate each cut immediately with 2 g metsulfuron or 15ml undiluted Tordon Brushkiller®.  Extra care must be taken when working with undiluted herbicides.
  1. Ringbark:  ensure complete cut around circumference of each branch/stem. Paint cuts immediately and thoroughly with(5 g metsulfuron/1L water + penetrant)or (200ml Tordon Brushkiller®/1L water)
  1. Drill and Fill:  Drill downward sloping holes every 15 cm around the trunk diameter, and fill immediately with  3 g metsulfuron hole, or 20ml undiluted Tordon Brushkiller®/hole. Extra care must be taken when working with undiluted herbicides.

Always treat standing plants, do not cut down as all braches, stems and fragments root profusely. All treatments best in late summer-autumn. Allow to rot fully before felling.

CAUTION: when using any herbicide or pesticide PLEASE READ THE LABEL THOROUGHLY to ensure that all instructions and safety requirements are followed.
